🌟 The Story of Momotaro / 桃太郎のお話

 

🌺 1. The Big Peach / 大きな桃

EN: Once upon a time in Japan, an old man and woman lived in a small village. They had no children, but they were kind and happy. Every day, the old man cut grass in the mountains, and the old woman washed clothes in the river.

JP: むかしむかし、日本の小さな村に、おじいさんとおばあさんがすんでいました。子どもはいませんでしたが、ふたりはやさしくて、しあわせにぐらしていました。毎日、おじいさんは山で草をかり、おばあさんは川で服を洗っていました。

EN: One day, the old woman saw something big coming down the river. It was a huge peach! She took the peach home. "Let’s eat this big peach for dinner," she said.

JP: ある日、おばあさんは川をながれてくる大きなものを見つけました。それはなんと、大きな桃でした！おばあさんはその桃をいえに持ち帰り、「この大きな桃をご飯にしましょう」と言いました。

🌟 2. A Baby from the Peach / 桃から一人の子

EN: When they cut the peach open, surprise! A baby boy was inside! The baby said, "I have come from Heaven to help you." The old couple was very surprised but very happy.

JP: 桃を切ると、なんと！中から男の子がでてきました！その子は「天国からきました。おふたりをたすけにきたのです」と言いました。おじいさんもおばあさんも、びっくりして、とても喜びました。

EN: They named him Momotaro, which means "Peach Boy." They raised him with love, and he grew strong and kind.

JP: ふたりはその子を「桃太郎」と名づけました。たくさんの愛でそだてると、桃太郎は強くやさしい子になりました。

🏦 3. A Big Adventure / 大きなぼうけん

EN: One day, Momotaro heard that bad ogres (called oni) were taking things from people and hurting them. "I will stop the oni!" he said. His parents made him rice cakes for the trip.

JP: ある日、桃太郎は、鬼という悪いものたちが人々からものをとったり、悪さをしていると聞きました。桃太郎は「ぼくが鬼をたおします！」と言いました。おじいさんとおばあさんは、おべんとをつくってくれました。

EN: On his journey, Momotaro met a dog. "Where are you going, Momotaro?" the dog asked. "To fight the oni," he said. "Can I come too?" the dog asked. "Yes," said Momotaro, and gave him a rice cake.

JP: 旅のとちゅうで、桃太郎は犬に出会いました。「桃太郎さん、どこへいくの？」と犬が聞きました。「鬼をたおしに行くんだ」と桃太郎。「ぼくもいっしょにいい？」と犬が聞くと、桃太郎は「いいよ」と言って、おべんとを一つあげました。

EN: Then, he met a monkey and a pheasant. They both wanted to help too. Momotaro gave them rice cakes, and all four became a team.

JP: つぎに、猿ときじにも出会いました。ふたりとも、たたかいを手つだいたいと言いました。桃太郎は一人ずつにおべんとをわたし、みんなでチームを組みました。

⛰️ 4. Oni Island / 鬼島のたたかい

EN: When they reached Oni Island, big scary oni came out. They had horns and big clubs. But Momotaro and his friends were brave. The dog bit, the monkey scratched, the pheasant pecked, and Momotaro used his sword.

JP: 一行は鬼島につきました。大きくてこわい鬼たちがでてきました。角があり、大きな棒を持っていました。でも、桃太郎たちはゆう気ありました。犬はかみつき、猿はかきむしり、きじはつつき、桃太郎は剣で戦いました。

EN: At last, the oni gave up. "We’re sorry! Please take back the treasure!" they said. Momotaro and his friends filled a cart with gold, food, and gifts.

JP: 最後に、鬼たちは「もうゆるして！ごめんなさい！たからを返します！」といいました。桃太郎はみんなといっしょに、お金やたべもの、たくさんのプレゼントを車に込めました。

🏡 5. Home Again / おうちへ帰ろう

EN: When they came back to the village, the old couple was very happy. "Thank you, Momotaro! We’re so proud of you!" they said. Everyone in the village came to see the treasure and cheer.

JP: 桃太郎たちが村に帰ってくると、おじいさんもおばあさんも大喜び。「桃太郎、ありがとう！自慢の子だよ！」と言いました。村のみんなも財宝をみにきて、大喜びでした。

✨ 6. The Lesson / このお話から学べること

EN: Momotaro became a hero. He showed that being brave, kind, and working together with friends can make the world better. Even a small boy can do big things.

JP: 桃太郎は英雄になりました。ゆう気と優しさ、ともだちと協力することで、世の中をよくすることができると教えてくれました。小さな子でも、大きなことができるんですよ。
